The Catcher in the Rye. The Movie. (in Imax 3D).

The Catcher in the Rye Signet Paperback.

JD Salinger is everywhere all of the sudden now that he’s dead and there’s a new biography. (JD Salinger: A Life by Kenneth Slawenski (2011)
Which begs the question now that old JD is dead…when’s the movie? And how totally will Hollywood be able to louse it up?
Lord knows, one thinks his corpse wasn’t even cold before the family was calling Hollywood to sell the rights to 20th Century American Literature’s best known book.
I bet Hollywood will do something ghastly like make it a contemporary teen romance musical starring Justin Bieber or some too-old actor like Shia labeouf .
“We wanted to update the dreary 1950’s setting to more accurately reflect the experience of today’s 21st century youth, and add contemporary hits by the all the top artists!” Said Executive Produce Judd Apatow. “But with a comic twist.”
“Everyboody’s a Phony!”, “Pencey Prep Do or Die, “Me and My Secret Goldfish”, “The Duck Song: Quack Catch Quack” are just some of the immortal song hits to come! From the makers of Glee! Cameos by the cast of DeGrassi Junior high for the Canadian edition. With Judd Nelson, as Mr. Antololini, and Dakota Fanning as Phoebe.
